The Two Towers

First half, which follows Gandalf, Aragorn, Legolas, Gimli, etc. is very exciting. Second half, which follows Sam and Frodo is a drag at parts, but broken up into short enough chapters that you feel like you’re making progress. Both halves do lots of cool things with point of view. Characters see strange events which are eventually explained by other characters. It’s fun to match up each timeline with what’s going on in other places. We also get more of Boromir’s backstory and even get to eavesdrop on the orcs near the end, seeing things momentarily from their point of view.
