What if all the patterns we’ve observed in science so far are temporary?
This book starts out completely non-scifi, then becomes extremely scifi all of a sudden. From that point on, I was completely into it. Very cool that it combines history of the Cultural Revolution with a scifi story. There are enough footnotes to get by, but I also did a little research on my own because I was so unfamiliar with that part of history.
The book may be targeted a bit at computer science majors.
It’s also a mystery story, with enough information to figure most of it out, except near the end where the answers get pretty crazy.

Still five stars the second time through.
