Incredibly long, but I listened on audiobook during my commute and finished in a few months. It does a great job of giving you a glimpse into the historical setting of the 1100’s in England, from many perspectives (peasant, mason, monk, bishop, earl, king, etc.). There’s action, but I was most interested in the descriptions of day-to-day life. I highly recommend reading with a timeline of historical events and a map.
