Not quite as gripping as I was expecting given the reviews. Still good. I started getting into it after 80 to 100 pages. Otherwise so scattered, fragmented, too much info too little context. The glossary helped.
I love the tone. So cynical. So good feeling like feelings. Some lines that really struck a chord with me: “Oops, thinking. Carefully, you stop.” “She’s too angry, all of a sudden, to know why she’s angry.”
Seems to draw inspiration from climate-change-fueled natural disasters and slavery.
The idea of stonelore is pretty cool. The knowledge that persists between civilizations. Wisdom, even if you don’t know the reasoning behind it, but you know it works.
It was pretty fun fitting the 3 storylines together.
