The concept is amazing: the personal journal of a philosopher-king emperor of Rome. The content itself is very repetitive, but has a couple very resonant ideas. (1) Accept misfortune. (2) Control your perceptions. (3) Understand rather than blame. (4) Put purpose behind your actions. (5) Practice virtues you admire.
But the meta-lesson here is to be reflective (Keep a journal). It’s a little hard to get through because it’s so unorganized.
