Such as classic has been on my radar for a long time, and I finally read it. Yes, it’s good. I listened around the same time that I quit social media and the news for unrelated reasons. I don’t know which one did it, or if it was both of them, but I’m more productive and happy now. I didn’t realize just how much I was checking Twitter or NY Times. Turns out if I schedule just a couple hours of undistracted time per day, I can get get a lot done, then feel more relaxed for the rest of the time.
A couple techniques I’m trying out:
- schedule focus time blocks during the work day
- plan out my day on paper, and revise it throughout the day
- use a shutdown ritual to clearly delineate when I’m done working
- be bored
